Business Administrator Level 3 Apprenticeship

Sheffield Credit Union is a not-for-profit organization, offering savings and loans to members across South Yorkshire. We are a Co-Operative, which means we are owned by our members.

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Apprentice to join our team at Sheffield Credit Union. This entry level position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands on experience in financial services industry, learn about credit union operations, and develop skills in customer service, financial management and member support.

Location: 35 Townhead Street, Sheffield, S1 2EB.

Hours: Full time (35 hours)

Apprenticeship Duties:

Member Services:

  • Greet members and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Assist members with opening and closing accounts, processing transactions, and answering account-related inquiries.
  • Provide information about credit union products and services, including loans, savings accounts, and online banking.

Administrative Support:

  • Perform clerical duties such as filing, data entry, and managing correspondence.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation and distribution of reports and member statements.

Financial Operations:

  • Assist in the processing of loan applications and documentation.
  • Support the finance team with account reconciliations, transaction verifications, and budget tracking.
  • Participate in audits and ensure adherence to internal controls and procedures.

Member Education:

  • Help develop and deliver educational materials and workshops for members on financial literacy topics.
  • Provide guidance and support to members seeking financial advice and planning.

Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with other departments to ensure smooth operations and high-quality member service.
  • Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities.

Requirements:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Basic understanding of financial principles and banking operations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and willingness to learn credit union-specific software.
