Sheffield Credit Union to become South Yorkshire Community Bank
IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO KEEP YOU SAFE
We are changing our name and how we look on Monday 20th July 2026.
To help us make this change go smoothly, we need to do some work on our systems.
That means you will not be able to access your accounts from 17th July until 20th July.
To make sure you and your accounts stay safe during this change, there is more on this and all of the changes below.
Sometimes scammers try to take advantage in times of transition, so please read everything carefully.
We will never ask you for information such as your online login username or password, for money or to move money during this process.
If you suspect a scam, call us on 0114 276 0787 to report it.
What is changing?
Our name: We will become South Yorkshire Community Bank

How we look: We will have a whole new look, with new colours and a new logo.
Our website: We will have a new website at sycb.co.uk.
If you receive any other communications asking you to access a different address and input details, this may be from a scammer.
From 20th July, if you try to access our old website address, it will automatically take you to the new website.
Our app name and icon: Our new app name will be South Yorkshire Community Bank and you’ll see a new app icon too. You don’t need to do anything if you already have the app. If you don’t already have the app, why not download it now?
Our systems: To help us make the change go smoothly, there will be a short period of downtime from 10:00 on Friday 17th July to 10:00 on Monday 20th July.
During this time, you will not be able to make deposits or withdraw from savings accounts, or take out new loans with us. If you need to make deposits or withdrawals, or to apply for a new loan before Friday 17th July, please do so as soon as possible.
Join and apply digitally: You will be able to join and apply for loans via our app or website.
Our social handles: Our Facebook and Instagram page will stay the same, but you will see our name change to South Yorkshire Community Bank. You don’t need to do anything to keep following us. If you don’t follow us already, like our Sheffield Credit Union page now to stay informed.
What’s not changing?
Important things that will stay the same are:
- Our friendly service.
- Our not-for-profit banking.
- Our brilliant loans, savings and budgeting accounts.
- Our phone numbers, branch addresses and opening hours.
- Your membership number and how you transact and communicate with us.
- Your share in your community bank.
- We will still be the same people doing the same things, just with a new name and look.
When will the changes happen?
These changes will take place on 20th July.
Why the change?
Last year, we merged with LASER Credit Union in Rotherham to create a bigger, better credit union for South Yorkshire.
Together, we will be South Yorkshire Community Bank, because with us, your money means more.
More because when you save, you help others in our community when they need it most. More because when you borrow, you do it safely and fairly.
More because South Yorkshire Community Bank is built by you, for you.
Why Community Bank?
Sometimes Credit Unions are called Community Banks. And we feel Community Bank reflects who we are. We’re proudly local. Proud of our connection to our community, and how you help us to support our community together. And because what matters to you is what matters to us.
Why the new look?
As we modernise what we do, such as through our app and services, we wanted to reflect that in our look too. One that will last us for years to come and help us to help more people in our community.
